March 25, 2025<\/b> The Mayor of Jerez, Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Garc\u00eda-Pelayo, presided over the Local Security Board for Holy Week, the Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix, and the Horse Fair 2025, alongside Blanca Flores, the Government Deputy Representative, at the City Hall's plenary hall. Accompanying the mayor were Deputy Mayors Agust\u00edn Mu\u00f1oz, Jaime Espinar, and Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Mart\u00ednez, as well as delegates Francisco Zurita and Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Aparicio.<\/p>\n
The session was attended by commanders from the Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard, Traffic Division, Fire Department, Civil Protection, Emergency Services 112, C\u00e1diz Provincial Council, and the Red Cross, along with the Union of Brotherhoods (regarding Holy Week) and representatives from the Circuito de Jerez (for the Motorcycle World Championship). After the Technical Table for Holy Week was held at the Local Police Headquarters, Technical Meetings for the Motorcycle World Championship and the Horse Fair will take place in the coming days to finalize operational plans agreed upon in the Security Board.<\/p>\n
The mayor thanked all the officials involved, stating: \n\"We appreciate the coordination between all administrations to resolve incidents in the most effective and immediate manner, thanks to the great professionalism of security forces and the technical teams of the various areas and entities involved.\"<\/p>\n
\u201cThese events almost overlap in terms of organization,\u201d Garc\u00eda-Pelayo pointed out. \n \"For example, the MotoGP festivities in the urban center will move to Alameda Vieja, as the seating stands will likely still be in the process of being dismantled.\"<\/p>\n
Discussions also covered security aspects for Holy Week in both urban and rural areas, as well as the Horse Fair's organization. However, the main focus was the Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix (April 25-27), as traffic flow and accessibility are the biggest concerns.<\/p>\n
The Circuito de Jerez has a capacity of 85,000 spectators, and as of Monday, 60,740 tickets had been sold, compared to 44,868 at the same time last year\u2014an estimated increase of 15,000 to 18,000 more attendees.<\/p>\n

Increased Attendance Expected \u2013 Arrive Earlier to the Circuit <\/b><\/p>\n
The mayor emphasized that all communication channels, including social media and the Circuit\u2019s official platforms, will be used to warn attendees about expected delays and encourage an early and staggered arrival.<\/p>\n
A new regulated parking lot will debut this year at the Circuit: \n- Previously, this area was an unorganized dirt lot with no marked spaces or emergency access. \n- Now, it has been properly structured into a paid parking lot, with proceeds covering Cirjesa's investment in the improvements.
Access will be managed by a company specializing in major events, such as Formula 1 and other Grand Prix events. The mayor explained: \n\"If we want a modern circuit, we need modern parking facilities, as seen in other top-tier circuits. This new regulated parking lot is a major improvement, and I thank the Civil Guard and Local Police for their efforts in managing this new challenge.\"<\/p>\n
The 6,000 parking spaces will be available for purchase via the Circuito de Jerez website. \n Reservations will be made through a link, where users can pay and receive a QR code for access. Backup spaces will also be reserved in case the free motorcycle parking (Lot C) fills up. \n- With these measures, there will be enough space to accommodate the additional 4,000 motorcycles and 4,000 vehicles expected this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe real challenge is not the parking capacity but the access roads. Travel time from the city center to the Circuit, which is normally 40 minutes, will be longer this year, so we urge attendees to arrive earlier and in a staggered manner.\u201d<\/p>\n
To ease congestion, the City Council will open a new 2,000-space parking lot for cars and RVs at Cacharritos-Feria and a secondary lot near Chap\u00edn Stadium. \n- From these locations, continuous shuttle buses will transport attendees to and from the Circuit.<\/p>\n
The mayor assured that road repairs due to recent March storms will be completed in time for the event. \n\"We will have all necessary police resources, including our upgraded Local Police drone unit, making this year\u2019s operation even more advanced.\"<\/p>\n
The mayor guaranteed that no healthcare resources will be diverted from other towns to handle these large events. \nThe Government Deputy Representative, Blanca Flores, highlighted the importance of coordination between law enforcement, the City Council, and the Circuit. <\/p>\n
For the Spanish Grand Prix, authorities expect 488,000 total vehicle movements and will deploy: \n- 700 National Police officers \n- 1,800 Civil Guard agents \n- 288 Civil Guard Traffic Division officers \n\nThis extensive security and logistics plan aims to ensure smooth operations during one of the biggest sporting events in Spain.<\/p>\n
