April 24, 2025. "Jerez, once again, will serve as the opening of the European leg of the MotoGP World Championship. And it does so with Marc Márquez as the dominant figure in the always competitive premier class. After the first four Grands Prix of the Championship in Thailand, Argentina, the United States, and Qatar, the brilliant rider from Cervera has almost achieved a perfect record of wins in both the Saturday and Sunday races, masterfully riding his Ducati GP25 for the official Borgo Panigale team. The only mistake came at the American event in Austin, where he crashed while leading the group. However, that setback has not prevented him from leading the provisional MotoGP standings with a 17-point advantage over his brother Álex and 26 points over his teammate Francesco Bagnaia, who took advantage of Marc's 'zero' in the United States to claim victory.

Marc Márquez arrives at the event full of morale and confidence, in one of the best physical shapes of his entire sports career. Jerez has always been a special venue for him, where he has experienced both triumphs and the shadow of the most serious injury of his entire career in the World Championship. That crash in 2020 led him to endure a four-season ordeal, which he began to mitigate last year with a memorable second-place finish, after battling with Bagnaia for the win. Without a doubt, now as an official Ducati rider, Marc Márquez will aim to seal the victory he already achieved on this track in 2018 and 2019, in a heroic effort to erase the wounds from the most difficult moment of his sporting life.

"So far, his most consistent rival has been his own brother. Álex Márquez, riding another Ducati but with the Gresini team and a GP24, has finished second in all the races, both sprint and Sunday, with the only exception being Qatar, where he finished fourth in the Grand Prix. Francesco Bagnaia, the winner of the last three editions of the Spanish Grand Prix, is having a more complex adaptation to the Ducati GP25, which his teammate Marc Márquez has already made a winner. However, his presence on the podiums this season has been frequent, and in Jerez, the Italian always excels, so it’s certain that he will not make things easy for the current championship leader.

Behind this trio of stars, the start of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship paints a category full of incentives and competitiveness. The riders from Valentino Rossi's team, with the Ducati GP25, Franco Morbidelli and Fabio di Giannantonio, have also managed to reach the podium, leading that alternative group to be competitive, with more brands appearing. Johann Zarco's Honda, Marco Bezzecchi's Aprilia, and Fabio Quartararo's Yamaha follow them in the standings and are already threatening Ducati's dominance in the Championship. The KTMs of Acosta and Viñales, with their fantastic performance in Qatar, are also seen at the head of that chasing group, just like the rookie who is generating the most buzz so far, Ai Ogura, who managed to secure a notable fourth place in Thailand with Aprilia.

In the negative chapter, we must regret the absence of the current MotoGP World Champion, Jorge Martín. After injuring himself in pre-season and returning in poor condition in Qatar, during the Sunday race in Lusail, he suffered another heavy crash in which he sustained a pneumothorax with an associated fracture of eleven ribs. His place in the official Aprilia team will be taken by Lorenzo Savadori in Jerez, while last week it was also confirmed that the now retired Spanish rider Aleix Espargaró will appear as a wildcard in the Spanish Grand Prix.

On the other hand, Arón Canet is the leader of the provisional Moto2 standings, with a ten-point lead over the Madrid-born Manu González, who won the opening race in Thailand. The rider from Corbera is having his most consistent start to a season and also comes off a victory in Qatar. British rider Jake Dixon, winner of Argentina and the United States, is in third place but penalized with a zero due to a crash in Qatar. The Conil native Marcos Ramírez is in fifth place, and in his home race, he will try to fight for a podium position.

"In Moto3, the rider from Ayora, Ángel Piqueras, leads the provisional Championship standings with just a one-point advantage over the dominant figure of the early races, José Antonio Rueda. The rider from Seville won in Thailand, the United States, and finished second in Argentina. Only a motor failure in Qatar, with two laps to go, prevented him from fighting for the win with Piqueras, who eventually became the winner. In third place is Australian Joel Kelso. On the other hand, it's worth highlighting the strong performances so far from the Spanish rookies Álvaro Carpe and Máximo Quiles, who will surely want to shine in Jerez, despite Quiles arriving 'injured' due to a thumb injury on his right hand from training.

Thursday with many activities scheduled at the Circuit and in the city of Jerez.

Today's day marked the official start of the activities for the Spanish Grand Prix of MotoGP, with a vibrant atmosphere at the Jerez – Ángel Nieto Circuit, where the passion for motorcycles can already be felt.

"From the early hours, the paddock began receiving the protagonists of the championship. Among the highlighted activities, the traditional press conference took place ahead of the start of the competition, with the participation of the current World Championship leader, Marc Márquez, accompanied by his brother Álex Márquez, and Italian riders Francesco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli. It was a meeting with the media where the excitement of what promises to be an unforgettable weekend could be felt. 'For the Spanish riders, this is a special Grand Prix, and many fans are expected. I have a lot of experience here, we’ll try to manage the weekend well and aim for good performance on track,' said the World Championship leader Marc Márquez.

On the other hand, the first fans have been able to access the circuit to enjoy one of the most anticipated moments of Thursday: the Pit Lane Walk, which allows fans to get closer to their idols and also get an up-close look at the inside of the teams' garages. As a fun anecdote, it’s worth mentioning that some fans were already queuing on Wednesday to get their wristbands and not miss out on this great opportunity.

Other highlights of the day included the traditional Motorcycle Caravan, which began at the Circuit and made its way through the area until reaching the Alameda Vieja, where a large biker festival open to everyone is taking place these days. Within this festive setting, the VII Ciudad de Jerez Motor Awards were presented, with honors going to rider Jorge Martín, rider Ana Carrasco Gabarrón, the Real Automóvil Club Jerez, and businessman Jaime Alguersuari. At the same time, the Garage Motor Estrella Galicia 0.0 was inaugurated at the Alcázar, with the presence of the Márquez brothers and the mayor of Jerez, María José García-Pelayo

It is also worth noting that, starting today, fans can enjoy the photographic exhibition honoring the 40th Anniversary of the Circuito de Jerez, located at Los Claustros de Santo Domingo. This unique exhibition was inaugurated today by the mayor of Jerez and members of the 40th Anniversary Commission, and it reviews, through historic images, the most iconic moments experienced at the Jerez circuit over its four decades of history.

With the arrival of teams, riders, and thousands of fans, everything is ready for the Spanish Grand Prix to kick off with intensity, and for Jerez to once again vibrate with the passion for two wheels.
