Work has begun today to restore the facilities and resume activity as soon as possibleMarch 4, 2025 After a severe storm hit yesterday afternoon, causing multiple incidents both in the rural areas surrounding the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto and within the circuit itself, restoration work has begun today to resume activities as soon as possible.
From early this morning, circuit staff have been carrying out cleaning operations, which are expected to continue for several days.
To reassure fans, the Circuito de Jerez guarantees that the ongoing repair work will ensure that the Spanish Grand Prix will take place as scheduled from April 25 to 27. Only activities planned closer to these dates may be affected by the cleaning and damage repair efforts. From today, the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto has deployed all available human and material resources to restore operations as quickly as possible.
According to rain gauges from nearby agricultural areas, over 120 liters per square meter of rain fell in less than half an hour yesterday afternoon. This led to significant water accumulation in certain areas of the circuit, particularly in the turns near the Arroyo del Gato, which runs through the facility. The stream overflowed, flooding turns 7, 8, and 11 with water, mud, and gravel from the run-off areas.
Additionally, the most affected area was Turn 13, also known as the Jorge Lorenzo corner. While the turn itself remains in optimal condition, the paved run-off area on its right side has been damaged in several spots and will require repairs.
Finally, it is important to note that no injuries have been reported among the staff who were present at the circuit during the storm.
