The Mayor of Jerez, María José García-Pelayo, has expressed her gratitude to the President of the Andalusian Regional Government, Juanma Moreno, and to the entire team of councillors and Carmelo Ezpeleta for their commitment to the city of Jerez after announcing the agreement that allows the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit to host, as a minimum, the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix during the period from 2027 to 2031, years that are in addition to the previously confirmed 2026 GP.
María José García-Pelayo emphasized that this agreement reflects the work and effort put forth. "When you work well, you reap the rewards, and today is a day of joy; today is great news for our city, for all of Andalusia, and for all of Spain, because this is the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix."
The Andalusian president explained that this agreement (with Dorna) "allows us to clearly, forcefully, and resolutely convey that we will continue to enjoy these MotoGP Grand Prix events from 2027 to 2031. This means that the strong connection that exists between Jerez and the Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix will continue," stated Juanma Moreno. "The availability and connection to Jerez have been very important in reaching this agreement. We thank Carmelo Ezpeleta for reaching this agreement and also the team at the Andalusian Regional Government," added the president.
After the announcement of the agreement, Carmelo Ezpeleta acknowledged that "for Dorna and the MotoGP family, the confirmation that we will be present at least until 2031 is fantastic news and a source of joy." Dorna's CEO expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and the city of Jerez "to be able to carry out an event that is, if not the most important, one of the most important in the world. We are delighted."
The mayor echoed Carmelo Ezpeleta's statement. "I agree with what Carmelo Ezpeleta said, that this agreement runs until at least 2031; with this, we've broken the 2026 glass ceiling, which seemed unbreakable. Now we have another glass ceiling, which is 2031, and I assure you that we will continue to do so with the same enthusiasm and drive. We will continue improving the circuit as we have done for this edition," she emphasized.
The mayor expressed her commitment to optimizing the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit. “We are going to improve access because we are committed to the development of this land of Jerez, of Cádiz, of Andalusia; we are committed to job creation, to tourism; everything depends on supporting a facility like the circuit, which is a source of pride for Jerez. Today, you have given us a great birthday present on our 40th anniversary: hosting the MotoGP Grand Prix until 2031.”
The 2025 MotoGP Grand Prix "is breaking records, which gives us credibility so that both Dorna and the Andalusian Regional Government continue to support the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit Grand Prix," the mayor stated. "This morning the Civil Guard informed us that the Jerez Motorcycle Grand Prix is the second major event held in Europe in terms of its magnitude and the mobilization it generates. Once again, we are up to the task thanks to institutional collaboration," she acknowledged.
The Andalusian president echoed the mayor's remarks. "Today, we once again broke a record for attendance of citizens from all over Europe—more than 200,000 people. Fans are enjoying themselves; there has been a major economic impact on the city of Jerez, which has made a huge effort to improve transportation and connectivity."
In this regard, Carmelo Ezpeleta noted that "this weekend has been extraordinary. I've heard this from the promoters, who congratulated us on how everything is going. Obviously, when the number of spectators that came, there are traffic jams, but I always say that I prefer to enter places with traffic jams instead of entering easily," he added.
