April 1, 2025. After the severe flooding on March 3 at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit facilities, the work of all the staff at the Jerez circuit and the auxiliary companies that have participated in repairing the damage has been hectic in recent weeks to resume activity as soon as possible. This will take place this upcoming Thursday when the green light at the Pit Lane turns on, and the riders of the ESBK – Spanish Superbike Championship will take their first laps on the Jerez track during the free practice sessions, which precede the official practices and races taking place over the weekend.
And it hasn't been easy, as the onslaught of storm after storm has been constant, preventing the normal progression of the scheduled work. However, the break in the weather that has been enjoyed in this area since last week, coupled with the tremendous effort of all the workers involved in the circuit's recovery, has greatly helped to advance the necessary tasks to have the facilities in optimal condition to finally host the first race of the Spanish Superbike Championship this upcoming weekend. Although, there are still pending tasks to complete throughout this month before everything is ready for the thrilling MotoGP World Championship event we will experience at the end of this month of April.
The ESBK kicks off its new season in Jerez, where it will also close the season in November. Therefore, there will be two occasions when the National Speed Championship, scheduled for 7 events, will stop at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit, which will host both the first and last race of the season.
More than 160 riders are already registered for the Jerez race across all competing categories, some of which are new, such as the ESBK Talent class, which is open to riders from the age of 13 as a stepping stone to the Talent category of the FIM JuniorGP. Additionally, the categories of Moto4, Supersport 300, Supersport NG, and Superbike will continue, along with the single-make category Copa Yamaha R7.
On-track action will begin this upcoming Thursday with free practice sessions, which will continue on Friday. The official practice sessions to determine the starting grids will take place on Saturday morning, with the first race heats scheduled for the afternoon. In total, there will be 12 races—6 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday—that fans can enjoy this weekend, with free entry, by visiting the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit to watch the competition live. Additionally, all fans will be able to take part in the Pit Lane Walk, scheduled for Sunday between 11:30 and 12:10, where they can get an up-close look at the mechanics working on the bikes or take photos with some of the participating riders.
On Saturday, the race schedule will be as follows: 13:00 h (SS300) – 12 laps /13:50 h (ESBK Talent) – 14 laps /14:45 h (Yamaha R7) – 12 laps /15:40 h (Supersport NG) – 16 laps /16:35 h (SBK) – 16 laps /17:30 h (Moto4) – 11 laps
